Dr. Curtiss was invited to the Center of Disability Studies at the University of Delaware to present on Sexual Consent and Disability. Participants learned what sexual consent is from a sexual health perspective and a legal perspective. They also learned important considerations when teaching consent and how teaching consent promotes sexual safety.
Dr. Curtiss was invited by the Autism Alliance of Michigan to give a workshop on sexual abuse identification, response, risk reduction, and prevention. The workshop covered how to: Identify the various forms of sexual abuse Respond to a sexual abuse crisis Identify multiple prevention strategies Understand how to best support prevention efforts
Researchers from Trinity College Dublin’s Autism Research Group led by Louise Gallagher invited families living to meet with the research team to better understand autism genomic research. Dr. Curtiss was a visiting scholar with the Autism Research Group.
Sarah Curtiss was invited to speak to over 500 practitioners, educators, parents, and self-advocates when Temple Grandin came to speak at Champaign-Urbana Autism Network’s conference. Sarah Curtiss and Linda Tortorelli (direct or The Autism Program) gave a webinar to 4-H leaders throughout the state of Illinois. We were excited the 4-H recognized the importance of supporting autistic youth in their activities.
